Website Migration
-
Q: Why do I have to transfer my site? What does web site migration entail?
A: When your current hosting provider can no longer satisfy the necessities of your website, or when you experience continual downtime, or if you are made to wait for hours for the tech support team to get back to you, it might be a clever idea to change your hosting provider, i.e. to move all the files for your websites along with your databases from your present provider to your future provider. At BitLife Host, we realize that this can often be hard & time–consuming. For this reason, we will perform all that for you at no cost! Our professional technical staff members will transfer your web site content from your current web hosting provider to us. Our techs have broad experience migrating websites and can handle everything – from a conventional WordPress–driven weblog or Joomla™ website, to a very complex, custom–made app.
-
Q: Website migration sounds like lots of work. How long does it take?
A: While we cannot give you an exact time frame, because there are lots of variables, among them the physical size of the web files and databases, the location of the current host’s server, the complexity of your website and the present workload of our Website Migration Department, etc., we will do our very best to migrate your web site within 48h, and in certain cases – within 24h (in case the content is not large).
-
Q: My privacy is vital to me. What information do you need?
A: We don’t gather any information that is sensitive. We’ll require, however, the login info for your old hosting account as well as the name of the website that you wish to move.
-
Q: The login info for my hosting account is delicate. How can I rely on you?
A: Our Privacy Policy is an inseparable part of the contract that we’ll have with you as a client. We’re committed to safeguarding the security of the private data gathered from the customers. For this purpose, we employ technical safety measures in order to prevent the loss, the misuse, the alteration or the unlawful leak of the personal info under our control. The security measures include, but are not limited to: physical, digital and administrative procedures to safeguard and secure the information that we gather online. When we ask customers to provide financial information (for example, a debit card number), this info is masked using the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption technique.
-
Q: Will my website be unavailable during the migration?
A: Your website will work just like it did before with your former web hosting provider. When we have finished the transfer, your site will be configured to work on our web hosting platform and we’ll ask you to preview it. If everything is working correctly, all you will have to do is change the NS resource records associated with your domain name. Your website will be migrated over to us without any downtime whatsoever.
-
Q: Will my current hosting provider have to do anything?
A: Nah. Aside from your login details for the Control Panel, we will not need anything. We’ll never touch base with your hosting provider. They won’t know anything about the transfer either.
-
Q: Does it make a difference what platform my current provider is using?
A: We can migrate your website from any web hosting provider or any Linux–driven hosting platform given that we can access the Control Panel and there’s File Transfer Protocol access available. The only sites that we’re unable to migrate are the ones based on closed–source software applications like Wix, BaseKit, Jimdo, Website Tonight, Four Square and Mr Site.
